Get outside this Father's Day weekend (June 20th - 21st) in support of our 14th Annual Appendix Cancer/PMP Virtual Walk or Run!
Due to the current COVID-19 environment, we have decided to transition our annual event to a VIRTUAL Walk or Run fundraising and awareness event this year! We are hoping to gain your continued support to make this event just as successful as in years past! Also, please stay tuned for details on a fun Facebook Live with Judy on June 20th.
A virtual walk/run means you can go whatever distance, whenever you'd like and you can do so in your own neighborhood! Anyone can join! It's also the perfect opportunity to set up a team page and walk/run in honor or in memory of someone to raise awareness of Appendix Cancer/PMP.
Here's how YOU can help further research and education as well as "Make a Difference for Dutch" and the Appendix Cancer/PMP community this year:
Register you and your family
Create or join a team. You can personalize your page and raise funds
Tell your friends and family to join the fun & share on social media
Lace up your sneakers, wear your new 2020 ACPMP t-shirt (must register by 6/12 to receive), and get outside on Father's Day weekend
Lastly, tag us in your photos of you and your family getting outside or use the hashtag #acpmpgoesvirtual2020 (best/most creative photo wins a $25 Amazon gift card)
All proceeds benefit the ACPMP Research Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to fund critical research and education for Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). The ACPMP Research Foundation is the leading organization that participates in the funding of promising research worldwide to better treat, understand and cure Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP).
Your participation is so important to us and will help fund critical research and education for Appendix Cancer and PMP! This event has raised over $400,000 in the last 13 years!

Why We Walk...
On July 22, 2006, Frank “Dutch” Culbertson, our beloved family member and friend, lost his courageous battle against this rare cancer. Following Dutch’s death, his wife Judy Culbertson and best friend Jim "Turk" Carroll chose to continue his fight by creating this walk. Judy’s continued courage and tenacity in fighting this disease, supported by her children, friends, neighbors, and both the Culbertson and Gormley families is an honor to his memory and his spirit!
For those of us that knew and loved Dutch, it is a simple mission from our heart. We have the opportunity for friends and family to get together for a good cause and hopefully help impact the lives of those currently fighting Appendix Cancer/PMP.
Making a Difference
As we walk on Father's Day each year to honor the memory of Dutch and other loved ones who have lost their battle with Appendix Cancer/PMP, we also walk to provide hope and inspiration for those patients currently fighting the disease as well as their family members.
Appendix Cancer/PMP is an extremely rare disease that has affected many families. Click here to learn more about this rare cancer.
Please join us in our fight and help make a difference!
The Starfish Story
By Loren Eiseley (Briarcliffe Paraphrasing)
Once upon a time two friends agreed to meet at the beach one morning (probably Wildwood). As one friend arrived the other appeared to be dancing along the shoreline. He smiled to himself at the thought of his friend dancing on the beach in the early morning. As he got closer he noticed the friend was reaching down to the sand, picking up small objects and throwing them into the ocean. He came closer and approached his friend and said “What are you doing?" The friend paused, looked up and replied ”Throwing starfish into the ocean.” “But why?” the friend replied. “Because the sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in they’ll die.” Upon hearing this, the friend said “Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? "You can’t possibly make a difference!” At this, the friend bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, “It made a difference for that one!” We can imagine our friend Dutch with a big smile dancing along the shoreline saving starfish on the beach (cold beer in hand)! We can also imagine a day in the future when our PMP/Appendix Cancer walk is attended by many survivors of the disease. It is then that we will know that our walk has “Made a Difference for Dutch”.
