Get outside this Father's Day weekend (June 19-20, 2021) in support of the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation’s 15th Annual Appendix Cancer/PMP Walk or Run!
TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:
1. VIRTUALLY on either, Saturday, June 19th or Sunday, June 20th, by walking or running in your neighborhood
ACPMP is proud to announce that the 15th annual “Make a Difference for Dutch” walk and run will take place again this year, VIRTUALLY & IN PERSON. It will continue to be a virtual event going forward so it's accessible to anyone! With a virtual format, you can go whatever distance, whenever you'd like over Father's Day weekend and you can do so in your own neighborhood! ANYONE CAN JOIN! This is the perfect opportunity to set up a team page and walk/run in honor or in memory of someone and to raise awareness of Appendix Cancer PMP.
2. IN PERSON at Ridley Creek State Park (site 11A and 11B) on Sunday, Father's Day, June 20th
We will hold our traditional “Make a Difference for Dutch” walk and 5k in person at Ridley Creek State Park as well as VIRTUALLY around the world. The in-person event will be held in accordance with local, state and CDC guidelines, including masks required for all participants. If we are unable to hold the in person event, participants can transition to virtual (details to follow if necessary). We welcome all to attend in person if possible, but encourage everyone to embrace our new virtual format and walk or run in your local area!
Last year the pandemic unfortunately caused us to cancel our local walk at Ridley Creek State Park, but thankfully we were able to transition to a virtual walk with outstanding success! More funds were raised during our virtual event last year than ever before - $94,000! Members of our community stepped up and stepped up BIG -- walking and running throughout the US and beyond to support this important cause! All proceeds go to the ACPMP Research Foundation as we continue to raise awareness and fund meaningful research towards finding a cure for appendix cancer. Celebrating our 15th year, our goal is to raise $115,000.
1 Register! Decide if you'd like to join VIRTUALLY or IN PERSON
2 Create or join a team and begin fundraising
3 Share and invite friends and family to join the fun
4 Lace up your sneakers, wear your new ACPMP t-shirt and get outside on Father's Day weekend either in your neighborhood or at Ridley Creek State Park on Sunday!
5 Tag us in your photos or use the hashtag #appendixcancerwalk2021. The team with the most creative photo will win some ACPMP swag!
All proceeds benefit the ACPMP Research Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to fund critical research and education for Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). The ACPMP Research Foundation is the leading organization funding promising research worldwide to better treat, understand and cure Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP). Our organization exists SOLELY through support from donations and fundraisers created by patients and their friends and families. Every dollar makes a difference in our fight against appendix cancer.
Your participation is greatly appreciated. Your support of this event will fund CRITICAL research and education for appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP).
The ACPMP Research Foundation is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research for appendix cancer and PMP. ACPMP has distributed $1.3 million in the form of 27 research grants, with another $100,000 to be issued in 2021.
This event has raised over half a million dollars in the last 15 years!

Why We Walk
We walk on Father's Day weekend each year to honor the memory of those who have passed from appendix cancer / pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). However, we also walk to provide hope and inspiration to appendix cancer PMP patients/families currently fighting this disease to let them know that they are not alone. Coming together one weekend every year provides hope to all and strengthens the bond within our rare community.
All proceeds support the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation as we continue to raise awareness and fund meaningful research towards finding a cure for appendix cancer. Celebrating our 15th year, our goal is to raise $115,000!
Appendix Cancer/PMP is an extremely rare disease, but it has affected many. Please consider supporting, every dollar makes a difference in our fight against appendix cancer.

Celebrating A 15 Year Tradition
Fifteen years ago, we held the first “Make a Difference for Dutch” walk following the passing of our beloved friend and family member Frank “Dutch” Culbertson who had appendiceal cancer.
Judy, surrounded by family and friends, felt compelled to act with a simple mission from the heart -- to continue Dutch’s battle with appendix cancer. Our goals included: hold a walk/run to honor Dutch’s memory; raise funds for appendix cancer research and education -- work towards a cure; improve the state of research, education and resources so future patients and families had more support as they faced this horrible disease and the challenges it presented.
Throughout the years, many members of the appendix cancer community from near and far attended and supported the event in honor or memory of loved ones affected by appendix cancer. Supporters flew in from Canada and across the country because no other events were held with a similar mission. Through those first years, the ACPMP Research Foundation was formed.
We are proud to have made significant progress on those goals, but our job is not done and we are looking forward to continuing ACPMP's mission. We always knew our local walk and efforts would end at some point and thankfully now we have a clear vision of how we can successfully continue our mission going forward with our new virtual format!
